The opening of the BERSHKA store in the prestigious Dubai Mall marks a new milestone in the synergy between design, engineering and high-end industrial craftsmanship. This store, located in one of the world's most iconic shopping malls, not only stands out for its modern and avant-garde aesthetic proposal, but also for the technical and logistical challenges involved in its construction.
At the heart of the store is an imposing bentwood maple structure 16 meters long, 5.5 meters wide and almost 4 meters high, covered with 552 m2 of wood and whose metal structure weighs 6 tons. To create it, 3,680 linear meters of wood were used, distributed in modules that were pre-assembled to ensure the feasibility of on-site assembly.
This process not only posed a structural challenge, but also required careful logistical planning, due to the thermal variations involved in containerized transport, which made it impossible to install the structure's cladding at source.
Its complex geometry forced us to carry out an exhaustive structural calculation to ensure both its stability and its transportation and assembly.
The creation of an initial prototype and the complete pre-assembly of the structure at our facilities in A Coruña were crucial steps that allowed us to minimize risks during the on-site assembly phase.
The entire BERSHKA project in the Dubai Mall was executed in record time, which in addition to the bentwood structure, included around 200 pieces of furniture that were manufactured exclusively for this store. All this was transported via 11 sea containers and 3 air shipments. The on-site assembly and installation involved precise coordination between the teams involved in order to meet the high standards of the brand and the exclusive environment in which it is located.
This project represents a clear example of how technical innovation and craftsmanship can merge to create unique spaces that reflect the values of the BERSHKA brand.
