Inspired by the home, Zara Home's flagship store in the centre of A Coruña is being renovated to incorporate the new concept that the chain will extend to the rest of its stores. It is committed to sustainability, familiar elements, craftsmanship and tradition, something that the architect Elsa Urquijo has managed to capture by creating a neutral atmosphere based on organic architecture.
One of the major objectives of this new concept is to stimulate sensorial interaction through natural materials enhanced by the light, which accentuates them making them the protagonists. Granite, marble, wood and lime are some of the materials used in an interior that blends in with the exterior thanks to the large glazed façade.
The interior of the Zara Home flagship store has been laid out like a house, complying with the premise that the chain wants to implement in the remaining stores: to show the product in a real environment. A kitchen, a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom area are distributed over two floors connected by a monumental staircase.
A large entrance hall surrounded by a half-height wall cladded in lime from Morón, a material declared an intangible heritage of humanity and manufactured in KIMAK, welcomes visitors to the home.
The bare, ecru-coloured ceilings where the visible technical installations are striking. Metal supports hold the ventilation ducts and the lighting, designed to highlight the core product and the collections that dress the shop.
To flood the interior with natural light and dilute the interior-exterior barrier, we designed and manufactured a façade with large windows, among which the two curved ones placed at the corner of the shop stand out. Illuminated signs are placed between the ground floor and the upper floor, separating the glass and allowing passers-by to see the ZARA HOME brand from any angle.
